New Look, Same Mission
It's a new year and there are some exciting new things happening at Park Street Brethren Church. In addition to bringing on some amazing new staff members and continuing to clarify our long-term facilities needs, we are also revealing our new logo and branding. Now some of you may be thinking, "what's so great or important about a new logo?" And while I agree that it might not seem like the most exciting thing in the world, the reality is in our image-rich world, your logo is often the first thing people see that gives them a clue to what you value as a church. Though our previous logo looked great, we didn't feel like it told folks much about who we are and what we value.
The inspiration for our new logo came from Revelation 22:1-5, which reads:
1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
This is the vision that we are praying and working toward - the day in which Jesus Christ will make all thing new and establish a new heaven and earth where a tree of life will bear God-honoring fruit and provide healing for the nations! It is a rich, vibrant image that stirs our hearts in wonder as we reflect on the love, truth, and grace of God. Our logomark is an artistic interpretation of a piece of fruit that has been cut in half. It is a now and not yet symbol as the fruit can be consumed presently, but the seeds of which still hold the potential to be planted and grow once more. There is a sense that the impact of this fruit could be exponential as expressed in the multiplication symbol that can be seen in the white space of the fruit. That's what we're hoping this community can be all about: honoring God with the spiritual fruit of our lives that He can use to increase His Kingdom on earth in amazing ways!
We hope that our new logo communicates that we are committed to following Jesus into the world and bearing fruit for His Kingdom and glory!
